How to release a track on Spotify
Spotify doesn't accept music directly from artists — only through a distributor. Here's how it works with OWNATMOS.
Prepare your files
A WAV track (44.1 kHz, 16 or 24 bit, stereo) and square artwork of at least 3000×3000 with no logos or links.
Upload your release
In your dashboard click “New release”, fill in the title, genre and credits, and choose a release date.
Leave time before release
Set the date 3–4 weeks ahead so you have time to pitch the track to editorial playlists.
Claim your artist profile
Once the release is live, connect Spotify for Artists — stats, photos and pitching are there.
Pitch to editors
Use Spotify for Artists to pitch an unreleased track to playlists at least 7 days before release.
Tips
- Don't change your artist name between releases — otherwise the track may end up on someone else's profile.
- Credit all songwriters — it's required for publishing royalties.
